Overview

Sleep has always mattered a lot to me, and over the years I've come to believe that getting a good night's sleep is the foundation for everything else, including reaching the other goals and dreams I'm working toward. That's why I've made it a personal goal to invest in the best mattress and pillow I can afford.

That search led me to the IKEA MÅNVIVA, which happens to be the most expensive sleeping pillow sold at my local IKEA. I wanted to share my honest, hands-on experience with it, to help you decide whether an investment like this in a pillow is actually worth it.

Memory Foam Bed Pillow

The IKEA MÅNVIVA is a memory foam bed pillow designed by IKEA of Sweden. It measures 50 x 40 cm (roughly 20 x 16 inches) in a square shape, with an envelope-style closure on the cover.

The core is molded 100% polyurethane memory foam with built-in airflow holes designed to help evaporate moisture. The removable cover is a soft, knitted fabric blend (64% polyester, 36% cotton), designed to help with air circulation and moisture evaporation for a better sleeping climate. IKEA's product listing notes the pillow pairs with a matching MÅNVIVA pillowcase, sized specifically for this pillow's dimensions rather than a standard rectangular case.

The cover is machine washable up to 60°C (140°F) on a normal cycle with similar colors, no bleach, tumble dry on medium, and can be ironed on a high setting. Do not dry clean. The foam core itself is not washable and should only be spot-cleaned if needed.

The color is white, with a solid pattern and no particular theme, and IKEA lists it under the "Soft" style name.

Pros

Comfortability This is a very comfortable pillow to sleep on.

Sleep Quality The impact of the MÅNVIVA on my sleeping quality was noticeable from the first moment. Right from the first night, my overall feeling improved, I woke up fresh in the morning, and didn't encounter any neck pain that had bothered me for a while.I'd describe the sleeping experience with the MÅNVIVA as comfortable, deep, and efficient.

Materials The pillow and its cover are made from quality materials.

Manages Sweat Well It lived up to its promises of evaporating sweat and air circulation. At first I was skeptical about IKEA's marketing claims, but after several hours of sleep, it still felt like I'd just placed my head down.

Cons

Price The MÅNVIVA is an expensive pillow compared to other pillows, even those sold by IKEA. But there are even more expensive pillows than this one, so everything is relative in life…

Overall Verdict

Update, July 2026

I still have this pillow, and it's holding up well. Comfort-wise, it's not quite the same as I remember it feeling the first time, but it's still perfectly reasonable compared to other pillows I've used since. I've since tried a few smarter, more advanced pillows that outperform it, but the MÅNVIVA will always stick with me as a good experience, and it's still serving me well today. It's also easy to maintain, I've machine washed the cover a number of times and it's held up to the material pretty well, there's a bit of wear but nothing serious. One thing worth flagging: I can no longer find this exact pillow listed on IKEA's website, so it may have been discontinued, though it's also possible it's still sold under a different name, or with updated materials I'm not aware of. If you're shopping for it today, I'd recommend checking directly with IKEA or a local store to confirm availability before relying on this review alone.

After sleeping with the MÅNVIVA for several nights back when I first got it, I was genuinely impressed. The sleeping experience was comfortable, deep, and efficient, and despite limited sleep hours and outside distractions, I consistently woke up without any neck pain. It felt like the real deal, and honestly, an investment I wish I'd made sooner.

The Bottom Line

The IKEA MÅNVIVA delivered real, noticeable improvements to my sleep quality and neck comfort from the first night, and years later it's still holding up and doing the job. If you can find it (or a close equivalent still sold by IKEA), it's a worthwhile investment for anyone serious about sleep.
