Lenovo XW1 Wi-Fi Camera6MP Dual Lens PTZ Pan & Tilt Security Camera

Overview
It has been a long time since I bought a security camera for my home, so I decided to buy a new one.
Beyond the basic need to see what is going on at home when I am not there, it is important to me that the camera lets me check on my pets, who are like my children to me.
Luckily, as soon as I started looking for the ideal camera, there was a sea of sales with significant discounts.
But that also created a problem. There was an abundance of models, each with its own features, and I did not really know a good share of the companies.
So when I came across Lenovo's security cameras, a very well-known tech brand whose cameras are sold at attractive prices, it felt a bit safer than buying from brands I do not know.
Since I am quite happy with the Lenovo products I have owned until now, I decided to go for it and buy the Lenovo XW1.
Now I am about to find out what this camera really offers, and whether it is a product that lives up to the Lenovo name.
Product Description
- Brand
- Lenovo
- Model No.
- XW1
- Type
- Dual lens pan & tilt Wi-Fi security camera
The Lenovo XW1 is a dual lens Wi-Fi dome camera with a motorized pan and tilt head, which the AliExpress listing describes as an indoor camera. According to the AliExpress listing, the two lenses work as a dual screen design with no blind spots, so one device covers twice the viewing range of a single lens camera.
The listing for the unit I bought offers 6MP and 8MP versions, and mine is the 6MP one. The listing's spec table, however, shows 3MP, and the pan and tilt range is also listed differently in different sections of the page, so I treat these numbers as unconfirmed for now.
For night time, the listing states three night modes: full color, infrared and smart color. The infrared range is listed at up to 8 meters. The camera connects over dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz), uses H.265 video compression and is controlled through the cam720 app on iOS and Android.
The listing also mentions motion detection with horizontal auto tracking and push notifications, a siren alarm, and two-way audio. Footage can be saved to a microSD (TF) card of up to 256GB, which is not included, or to cloud storage, which the listing says requires payment.
