Samsung Galaxy Tab A11 Plus 11-inch Android tablet review

Overview

It's been a while since I last refreshed my tablet lineup. Every time I need one again, I rediscover just how wonderful a device it is. The problem is that I need a good reason to actually use a tablet, otherwise it just sits on the side collecting dust. So when does that happen? Travel (which reminds me that I need a vacation), free time (of which I don't have too much, since I work a lot), controlling and operating a smart home (I don't currently have too many smart devices that need managing), and keeping small kids busy, which is honestly the ultimate use case for one.

So fate had it that I came across an interesting deal on the Galaxy Tab A11 Plus, bundled with a protective case and a 25W charger. A quick Google search revealed it's currently one of the most attractively priced tablets on the market, so I decided to go for it, and along the way I had the chance to test the device up close.

Type
Android tablet

The Galaxy Tab A11 Plus is an 11-inch Android tablet built around a 1200x1920 TFT LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate, powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset. It runs Android 16 with Samsung's One UI 8 on top, and according to Samsung, is set to receive up to seven years of OS and security updates, the same policy the company applies to its phones.

Sound comes from quad speakers tuned with Dolby Atmos, which is a step up from what most tablets in this price range offer. Storage can be expanded well beyond the internal 128GB, with support for microSD cards up to 2TB, making the base storage configuration a lot more practical for anyone who needs more room for apps, media, or downloaded content.

On the design side, the tablet has rounded edges and a metallic-finish back (reviewed in Gray/Silver), with a rear camera that barely protrudes and a front camera that stays out of the way during regular use. It carries an IP52 rating and Samsung Knox security, and Samsung claims support for Samsung DeX for a desktop-style experience when connected to an external display. The tablet does not support the S Pen. It also includes a Samsung Kids Edition mode, which Samsung positions as a dedicated environment for younger users. Physical dimensions are 257.1 x 168.7 x 6.9mm, weighing approximately 477g, with a 7040mAh battery and 25W charging support.

Pros

Good displaySharp and bright for the price, sitting slightly above Full HD resolution.

Great soundThe quad speakers genuinely surprised me, even though the setup itself is fairly simple.

Expandable storagemicroSD support up to 2TB, which matters a lot since the base configuration ships with only 128GB.

Solid designRounded edges, a metallic gray back, a rear camera that barely protrudes, and a front camera that stays out of the way.

Solid camerasFront and rear cameras are good enough for everyday use on a tablet in this class.

Real-world performanceResponsive and doesn't lag for everyday tasks.Haven't pushed it with heavier workloads or gaming yet.

Cons

No 4K displayThe screen tops out at a resolution just above Full HD, worth noting if you were expecting more.

Video capped at 30fpsComing from more advanced Samsung phone cameras, this felt like a step down.

Overall Verdict

The Tab A11 Plus works well and does what it needs to. It has a good spec sheet for the price: a solid display, surprisingly good speakers, decent battery life, memory expansion, a capable camera, and a nice overall design.

What matters most, though, is that the performance actually holds up in real use, unlike a lot of cheap tablets that look impressive on paper but perform poorly in practice. The small tablet-specific interface adjustments Samsung has made are also implemented solidly and intuitively.

For the use cases I described in the Overview, travel, free time, smart home control, and keeping the kids busy, this feels like a safe purchase. Being a Samsung device also means Android users and Samsung fans will feel right at home, and should benefit from Samsung's software update policy, the same one the company applies to its phones, though it's worth double-checking how consistently that plays out over time.

The Bottom Line

A budget Android tablet that delivers real-world performance to match its spec sheet, making it a safe, well-rounded pick.
