Hotel Sanpi Milano Milan, Italy
Overview
During my visit to Milan in May 2022, I stayed at Hotel Sanpi Milano, a 4-star boutique hotel in the Porta Venezia neighborhood, close to Corso Buenos Aires and the Milano Centrale train station. It was the first of two hotels I visited in the city under the same ownership, the second being Hotel Mediolanum.
In this review, I take a closer look at the hotel's amenities, location, and breakfast, to help you decide if it's the right choice for your next trip to the city.

Pros
LocationI felt safe in this area, which is relatively close to Corso Buenos Aires and the Milano Centrale train station. There are also many restaurants and grocery stores nearby.
A decent hotelNot overly fancy, but it offered everything I needed. The room was clean and relatively modern, and the garden and restaurant areas were inviting. There's also a gym, a bar, and small seating areas that are perfect for quiet conversation, reading, or working.
CleanlinessBoth the hotel's facilities and my room were clean. I encountered no broken or torn items, or anything unpleasant that would have made me want to leave.
Quiet and positive vibeDespite being an urban hotel, the Sanpi has a mellow atmosphere once you step inside. I had a pleasant conversation with a kind lady while enjoying breakfast, which added to the positive vibe.
Good breakfastThis was the first of two hotels I visited under the same ownership in Milan, and the Sanpi offered a significantly more generous breakfast than Hotel Mediolanum.
Kind staffI interacted with the reception desk staff and the restaurant staff, and all of them were friendly and helpful.
Cons
Not in the city centerThe hotel is in a safe area with convenient access to the surrounding amenities, but it isn't in the city center. Guests who want to be close to the Duomo di Milano should know it's approximately a 30 minute walk from the hotel.
Limited amenitiesCompared to some hotels, the Sanpi offers a more basic selection of amenities. Essentials like a gym and a bar are available, but there's no swimming pool or other extensive facilities that some guests might prefer.
Overall Verdict
Hotel Sanpi Milano isn't trying to be the fanciest hotel in the city, and it didn't need to be. It offered everything I needed: a clean, relatively modern room, inviting garden and restaurant areas, a gym, a bar, and a few small seating areas for quiet conversation, reading, or working.
The area felt safe, with restaurants and grocery stores nearby and Corso Buenos Aires and Milano Centrale within reach. The staff were friendly, the breakfast was generous, and despite the urban setting, the atmosphere inside is mellow.
The trade-offs are simple. It isn't in the city center, with the Duomo di Milano about a 30 minute walk away, and the amenities are basic, with no swimming pool or other extensive facilities.
A clean, quiet, and welcoming 4-star boutique hotel with kind staff and a generous breakfast, in a safe area a short walk from Corso Buenos Aires, but not in the city center.
