Inflatable Sumo Costume Inflatable Sumo Suit for Adults & Kids
Overview
Inflatable costumes are one of my favorite genres to cover, and there's one design I keep running into at almost every event: the sumo wrestler.
The combination makes sense once you think about it. Sumo wrestlers are known for their size, so an inflatable suit fits the concept perfectly. It also helps that the character taps into something familiar for a lot of people, since pop culture has referenced sumo wrestlers plenty of times over the years, from E. Honda in Street Fighter to Yokozuna in the WWE.
So I decided to put this one to the test, and have a bit of fun with it along the way.
Product details

- Model Name
- Inflatable Sumo Costume
The costume comes with a battery-powered air pump built into the suit, which keeps it inflated throughout the day rather than requiring you to manually top it off.
It fits a wide range of body types, with sizing available for both kids and adults. The kids size fits a height of roughly 120 to 150 cm, while the adult size fits roughly 150 to 190 cm. Once you turn on the pump, the suit fills with air in under a minute, and on a fresh set of batteries the pump can keep running for up to roughly 7 hours of continuous use before you need to swap them out.

Pros
Comfortable to Wear Surprisingly comfortable on the body, even with the bulk of the inflated suit.
Reliable Air Pump The pump keeps the suit filled with air, holding pressure well even after several hours of activity.
Screwdriver Included Comes with a screwdriver for opening and closing the battery cover, so there is nothing extra to buy.
Positive Reactions Got positive feedback from everyone I asked for their opinion while wearing it.
Quick to Inflate The suit fills up with air in under a minute, so you are ready to go almost as soon as you turn on the pump.
Cons
Screwdriver Required for Batteries You need to unscrew the battery cover to replace the batteries, so you will likely need to carry the screwdriver with you.
Batteries Can Run Out There is always a chance the batteries will die mid-use, so it is worth carrying spares with you.
Needs a Pocket or Belt You will need to wear clothes with a pocket or a belt in order to place the air pump properly.
Overall Verdict
This is a great costume. It's cute, I had a lot of fun wearing it, and people respond to it on both ends. Everyone who sees you in it gets a kick out of it and you instantly become the center of attention, and a lot of the people who see it also want one for themselves. Right now everyone seems to want to be a sumo wrestler, minus the part where you actually have to eat your way to that size.
What stands out to me is how long this costume can stay relevant. Most costumes, inflatable or not, tend to ride a trend for a year or two before the character or the moment fades and people move on. A sumo wrestler does not really go out of style the same way, so this one has more staying power than most.
The only real friction is dealing with the batteries and the pump. Wear something with a pocket or a belt so you have somewhere to put the pump, and try to be in a ventilated or air conditioned space. If you sort out those two things in advance, wearing the costume is a completely smooth experience. It also helps to bring a comfortable bag with you, even something as simple as an ultra-light backpack or a basic carry bag, so once you decide to take the costume off you have somewhere to pack it along with the batteries, the screwdriver for the pump, and a change of clothes.
One thing worth keeping in mind is that the quality of the suit and the pump can vary depending on where you buy it from, so it is worth paying attention to the seller before you order.
This is a fun, comfortable costume that gets a big reaction wherever you wear it, and unlike most costumes, it has real staying power as a trend. Just plan ahead for the pump and batteries, wear something with a pocket or a belt, and stay somewhere ventilated. The main variable to watch is the seller, since suit and pump quality can differ from one listing to another.
