Summary:

The brand: Nespresso
The model: Lattissima One

The pros:

  • Design – The Lattissima One is an impressive modern coffee machine.
  • Measurements – Though it offers a built-in milk frother (the RCS), a 1 liter water tank, and a 10 capsules container, it still keeps a compact size, thanks to the box-shape it has.
  • Water tank – a 1-liter water tank that is flat and attached well to the back of the machine is a very efficient solution that personally I find more practical compared to the pipe-shaped water tank in other Nespresso coffee machines.
  • Capsules container – it can store up to 10 capsules (sometimes 9 capsules, almost never 11 capsules, and don’t count on 12 capsules…) which is an acceptable quantity in my opinion, as you don’t have to empty it too often.
  • Height of the coffee outlet from the base – It is OK for most tall glasses, and excellent for small glasses, thanks to the cup support.
  • The cup support – It slides smoothly from side to side and is safe in it’s place (assuming the machine is on flat surface).

The cons:

  • Cleaning the RCS – you’ll be required to that almost every time you’ll use it. And this means you need to disassemble it, and clean each of the parts that its consisted of. According to the user manual cleaning properly is also a task on its own, so I usually wash it with soap and water and that’s it.
  • It’s not recommended to leave the RCS outside for too long – because not only the milk gets dry & sticky, but it also might attract flies, that can get into the RCS through the cavities on the lid.
  • The RCS “spits” milk while it’s working – It happens occasionally (like you can see in the video), and you can lower the chances it will happen by directing the milk spout properly to the cup you’re using, but still – this is something that doesn’t usually happen with a separate milk frother.
  • Milk foam density – I think it’s OK, but those who prefer denser milk foam, will be better with a separate milk frother.
  • Can’t set milk quantity automatically – You cannot define automatically the quantity of the milk used in the RCS.
  • There’s always some milk left in the RCS after using it – since you’re not supposed to store the RCS in the fridge, there’s a great chance this milk will be wasted for nothing.

FAQ :

Q: What are the measurements of the Lattissima One?
A: The machine’s measurements are – 15.4 x 25.6 x 32.4 cm

Q: How should I clean the RCS?

A: The RCS can be washed either in the dishwasher or by hand. If the RCS is hand washed, the user manual recommends soaking it (disassembled) in hot water (at a temperature of least 40°C) for 30 minutes.

Q: What is the water hardness tester for? How to test the water hardness?

A: The user manual explains about water type for certain coffee drinks, how to test the water hardness, and how to set the machine for the right water hardness.

Q: How to rinse the machine when operating it for the first time?

A: When turning the machine for the first time (or after a long time that it hasn’t been used), fill the water tank and rinse the machine by pressing the “Lungo” button – repeat the process 3 times.

Q: Will the Latissima One work with Soy milk?

A: According to Nespresso, the milk system has not been designed to work with vegetale milk.
