Pros

Works flawlessly – The recommended distance of the bulbs from the hub is up to 35 meters under ideal conditions. I’m using it in a space that does not exceed this distance, and it worked well so far.

Easy to install – Setting up the hub, bulbs and the app went smoothly and took me no more than 10 minutes.

Along with the package, you receive a quick installation guide in several languages. It was useful for the setup process, and I think that it’s good that I wasn’t bombarded with additional documentation.

The Sengled website is very informative – I had many questions following the initial setup. The Sengled website offers answers to most of those questions.

The App works well and offers various features – The app’s name is “Sengled Element Home”. You can download it from both Android & iOS devices.

It is intuitive and includes multiple functions, such as dimming, scheduling on/off, and more. You can control each of the bulbs separately, in groups, or all together.

Works with smart devices – You can integrate the Element series with Amazon AlexaGoogle AssistantIFTTTSamsung SmartThings, or Wink.

So far, I connected it with my Amazon Alexa smart assistant, and you can watch my video review and notice how well it works.

Dimmable light – You can control the light dimming using the Sengled app.

The hub can be paired with up to 64 light bulbs.

Cons

I had to use the LAN cable during the initial setup – According to the quick setup guide I had to use the LAN cable to install the device.

There is a WPS button at the front of the hub, which I guess is intended for wireless installation. Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to extract the setup with the WPS button.

Following the review, I learned from the official Sendgled website that the WPS is no longer supported, thus it’s not relevant.

The Sengled Smart LED will work only with networks other than those with a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network – This is not a deal-breaker for me, but there might be people who will be bothered about that.

The estimated yearly energy cost that was calculated by the manufacturer to prove this is an energy-saving light bulb – The manufacturer mentions calculations that claim this light bulb will save you money (up to $1.08 per year). I encourage money-saving but think there are too many variables that will prevent this calculation from occurring in real life.

FAQ

Can the A19 bulb fit the E27 bulb socket?

Yes, I managed to do that, and so far so good.

Will the bulb work without the hub?

Yes, the bulb can work without the hub, and operate as a normal bulb.

Is this a dimmable light?

Yes, as can be seen in the video review I made, you can control the brightness of the bulb. Most Sengled bulbs cannot be used on physical dimmer switches; only the Element Plus bulb can be controlled by a dimmer switch.

However, Smart Sengled LEDs can be controlled and dimmed via their respective Sengled apps (or third-party apps if they are integrated).

What is the brightness level of the bulb?

The bulb’s brightness level is (up to) 800 lumens (equivalent to 60W according to Sengled support).

What is the recommended environment to operate the bulbs?

The recommended operating environment is between (-20°C) and 40°C.

Will the HUB work with different bulbs?

As long as you’re using Sengled bulbs, I believe they will work just fine (but I can’t confirm that). I didn’t try to operate the hub with bulbs by other manufacturers, so I can’t confirm this issue as well.

Can I use different apps to control the HUB/bulbs?

I managed to pair the Sengled kit with Amazon’s Alexa and it works well. So far, I didn’t try to pair it with other apps other than that.

Will this Wi-Fi bulb work with a 5Ghz Wi-Fi network?

No, the Sengled Wi-Fi Smart LED does not work with networks other than those with 2.4 GHz.

Will this product work outdoors?

This bulb is not intended for outdoor use, but only for indoor use.

Will this bulb work using a Bluetooth connection?

No, this is a Wi-Fi-based device.
