Beaphar Care+ Nature Rabbit Premium Pet Bunny Food

Overview
During my first year raising The OVR Bunny, I learned a great deal about caring for this wonderful animal. Nutrition is a critical part of rabbit care, and there is little room for mistakes.
The OVR Bunny is now an adult rabbit who eats well from morning to night: hay, vegetables, and of course pellets. I tried several types of pellets before a meeting with a veterinarian who specializes in exotic animals helped clarify what to look for. He named a few specific brands and products, and stressed that the pellets should come from a reputable company and be based on Timothy hay.
I looked into this further and found that this points to food that costs significantly more than what I had been buying up to that point. On paper, this is a higher quality food, and it is certainly more expensive. But how has The OVR Bunny actually responded to it, and does it justify the extra cost? Those are exactly the questions I set out to answer here.

Beaphar Care+ Nature Rabbit is a pelleted feed for rabbits, made with natural ingredients including Timothy hay, herbs, and grasses. It contains no cereals or grains, no added sugar, and no colourants.
According to Beaphar, the feed's high fibre content supports digestion, and the specially hardened pellets are designed to aid the natural wearing of a rabbit's teeth. The manufacturer also states that it contains natural prebiotics intended to support beneficial gut bacteria, along with Yucca schidigera, which Beaphar says helps reduce faecal odour.
The product is sold in a 1.5kg bag and is listed by the manufacturer as suitable for rabbits of all ages and weights.
Beaphar is a Dutch family-owned company founded in 1942 and based in Raalte, the Netherlands. The company states that its products are sold in more than 86 countries, and it produces a dedicated range for rabbits and rodents, including the Care+ and Care+ Nature lines.

Pros
Strong, Consistent Appetite The OVR Bunny gets visibly excited the moment the bag opens, rushing to the bowl and even coming to me and hopping around my leg when hungry.Eating pace varies: fast and eager in some sessions, spread out through the day in others.
Normal, Healthy Digestion Stool has looked exactly as it should throughout the time I've been feeding this, matching what a veterinarian would consider a healthy rabbit's droppings.
Minimal Odor The smell is only noticeable for a moment when the bag is opened. The pellets themselves are close to odorless and never bothered me day to day.
Matches Vet-Recommended Criteria This is a Timothy hay-based pellet from a reputable brand, which is exactly what an exotic-animal veterinarian advised me to look for once The OVR Bunny outgrew kit food.
Cons
Costs Significantly More Roughly five times more per kilogram compared to the cheaper, alfalfa-based food I used to feed before switching, based on my own local pricing.
Smaller Bag Runs Out Quickly The 1.5kg bag needs restocking more often than I'd like. Other products in Beaphar's range come in larger sizes, though I'm not certain whether this specific product is offered in anything bigger. At 75g a day for one adult, roughly 3kg rabbit, that works out to about 18 to 19 bags a year. Do the math for your own rabbit's weight and appetite.
Limited Availability Not always in stock where I shop, and not carried by many retailers in my area. This isn't necessarily a flaw in the product, more a reflection of local supply and demand. Because of this, I buy several bags at once when I find a good price, which usually comes with a quantity discount and means I never risk running out.
Overall Verdict
I try to keep The OVR Bunny's diet consistent and avoid experimenting with it too much: fresh hay, fresh vegetables, and quality pellets. This is the pellet food I've given him regularly for the past year, following my vet's recommendation, and there's no sign that he's grown tired of it.
I've tried diversifying things elsewhere, adding toys and rotating play corners for enrichment, but nothing so far compares to how he reacts to this food. Despite costing roughly five times more per kilogram than the cheaper, alfalfa-based food I used before, his enthusiasm for this one is even greater, and his digestion has stayed normal and healthy throughout.
The downsides are manageable rather than dealbreakers: the cost, a 1.5kg bag that needs restocking roughly every three weeks, and availability that isn't always reliable where I shop. I've dealt with this by buying several bags at once when I find a good price, which also tends to come with a quantity discount.
This is based on a year of ongoing, regular feeding, and I will keep updating this review if anything changes.
A Timothy hay-based pellet food that matches what an exotic-animal vet recommended, and one The OVR Bunny responds to more than anything else I've tried. The extra cost has been worth it so far, as long as you're ready to restock a bit more often and buy ahead when you find it in stock.
